Of Molecules

by Andrew Rohlk

about

A song dedicated to those who know putting yourself back together part is harder than the falling apart part.

~

I started writing this song in about 2012, but it felt incomplete until the week of a recording session in early 2023 when I added a riff that is now the chorus section. I pulled lyrics from the "junk drawer" musings & meanderings stored on my phone during day 1 of recording where the arrangement & instrumentation was finalized. Day 2 I recorded the vocals you hear on the track with what I later realized was an inguinal hernia.

I'm hoping you can listen past all that though, and tell me what it sounds like to you. Finalized. Realized.

Life only gives you the study guide after the test.

Still studying. Still getting tested.

With love, light & a new sense of balance,

-AR

lyrics

I thought I was
I thought I was holding
The only
The only thing worth holding.

Now it's gone, now it's gone.
I held on way too tight
Something's wrong, something's wrong
Chased by my thoughts at night.

A cowardly collection of molecules
A stranger, cliff hanger, ready for review
x2

I can't seem to
To put my, to put my,
To put my finger on it
On the trigger
To my psychosis

Loaded gun, loaded gun
Don't know when it will strike
Is it done, is it done?
I'd like to sleep tonight

A cowardly collection of molecules
A stranger, cliff hanger, ready for review
x4
